Our maize silage service follows the crop from establishment and spraying, through to harvesting and ensiling. As maize is an expensive crop to grow, Martin takes every precaution to ensure your fields reach their potential. Kehoe Farming sow maize for customers both with and without plastic. This is tailored to suit your needs and requirements. We can also supply different seed varieties and the plastic required. Crop protection and nutrition can also be maintained by Kehoe Farming as we acknowledge the importance of early weed control to reduce the risk of the plant competing for moisture and nutrients. For harvesting we use our Claas 980 harvester and maize header which has stubble height control which limits the amount of contamination of dirt and soil on the maize. The crop is then drawn by our team back to be ensile. It is essential for this stage to be completed efficiently as air must be removed for adequate fermentation to occur.
